BOTOX/XEOMIN/ DYSPORT/DAXXIFY

Neuromodulators are a form of botulinum toxin that when injected into muscle, prevents the release of the neurotransmitter acetylcholine from axon endings at the neuromuscular junction and thus causes paralysis of the muscles and decreased/minimal muscle movement.

If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, we cannot treat you. Though the toxin stays where we put it, there have never been medical studies on these treatments in pregnant or breastfeeding women. Certain autoimmune conditions and medications may prevent Botox, Xeomin or Dysport from binding properly or lasting as long. We will always review this with you during your consultation.

We recommend that you exercise prior to your appointment or take the day as a rest day (goodness knows we all need those). Botox/Dysport/Xeomin takes at least 4-6 hours to fully integrate into the muscle. Exercise, having a facial, massage, extreme pressure, or touching your face too forcefully can cause it to move to areas where we did not place it. This can lead to no results, or undesired results (such as eyelid drooping/ptosis, dropped smile, etc..)

Immediately after treatment, you will notice small “bumps'' where the injections were done. These typically only last about 20 minutes and can be covered, very gently, with makeup. Bruising is also possible. Some people report headaches around day 2-3 or at day 14 when the neurotoxin “kicks in”. This is common and does not indicate a reaction to the treatment. Often, this can be related to the relaxation of what has been an overactive or hypertrophied muscle. Motrin or Tylenol can be taken for these headaches if they occur. Do not hesitate to reach out to us with questions regarding this.

This depends on the procedure you are having done. The procedure cost includes our expertise and training, time for the procedure, and the product we use for your specific treatment. For example, we may need a 0.55mL syringe of filler for a lip procedure or a full 1.0mL syringe for the chin. This is something we will discuss in our consultation.

Fillers are not recommended for anyone who is pregnant or breastfeeding. Many of the products that we carry at HAAN contain lidocaine. If you are allergic to lidocaine, we can discuss this during our consultation and we can order non-lidocaine fillers. Autoimmune conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, lupus (SLE), and others may lead to no effect or undesired side effects. This is something we are happy to discuss during your consultation as well.

Common side effects include bruising and swelling. This can last for a few days in some, and longer in others. Lips can often feel dry and we will send you home with a small tube of Aquaphor to apply as needed for dryness. We also apply Arnica gel to the treated area which can help with bruising. You will receive an ice pack that you can take home and use as needed.

SCULPTRA
Sculptra is an FDA-approved injectable (biostimulator) that helps gradually replace lost collagen—the most common protein in the body that is used to form a framework to support cells and tissue—for results that can last up to two years. Three treatments are typically required and once yearly to every two years moving forward.
HYPERDILUTE RADIESSE
Radiesse is a dermal filler (biostimulator) made of calcium hydroxyapatite (CaHA) gel microspheres that work immediately upon injection. CaHA is comprised of phosphate and calcium, which occur naturally in the human body.
When diluted and injected superficially, Radiesse acts as a collagen stimulating agent. The Hyperdilute Radiesse technique combines the filler with saline and lidocaine, thinning the consistency and increasing the volume of product. The Hyperdilute Radiesse is then injected into the desired area through a thin cannula. This treatment is a favorable alternative to surgical intervention for skin laxity.

Kybella is made up of deoxycholic acid, which is a naturally occurring molecule in the body that aids in the breakdown and absorption of dietary fat. This results in a noticeable reduction in fullness under the chin, revealing an improved chin profile.

Biostimulators are great options for patients looking for a natural solution to fine lines, wrinkles, skin texture changes and aging in general. They are a great multi-modality approach to aging skin and build collagen and elastin over time.

These products allow us to address aging concerns without adding volume to the face. When injected, Sculptra, Radiesse, and EZGel PRF stimulate the body to produce its own collagen. We like to equate this to putting money in a 401K - the collagen building process takes time, but you get to keep the collagen and elastin your body has made. Results are long lasting and after initial treatment(s), you may only need an additional treatment every one to five years for maintenance.

The typical recommendation is one vial/syringe per decade of life every four to six weeks. If you are in your 30s, we will likely need three vials/syringes total (one vial per treatment every four weeks); if you are in your 40s - four vials/syringes, etc. Biostimulators take TIME for results. Results are typically seen after the second treatment with full results six months after your final treatment.
